Direct Support Professional
Direct Support Professional (DSP)
Location: Westerville, Ohio
Company: Liberty Residential Care Services
Are you looking for more than just a job? At Liberty Residential Care Services, we live by a simple but powerful truth: no man is an island. We believe that every individual thrives best when they are connected, supported, and truly seen.
We are looking for compassionate, dedicated individuals to join our team in providing person-centered care for those with intellectual and developmental disabilities. Here, you aren’t just a "staff member"—you are an advocate for freedom, a champion of choice, and a vital part of a community built on dignity and respect.
Communicative, Energetic & Community-Focused
Do you have high energy, a gift for gab, and a heart that beats for the community? We aren’t looking for someone to just "clock in." We are looking for a dynamic companion and advocate who understands that a meaningful life is built on relationships and shared experiences.
In this role, you will serve an individual who needs assistance—but don’t let that frame your perspective. This isn't about what they can't do; it’s about how you can help them do everything they love.
Key Responsibilities
- Community Connection: Actively engage the individual in community outings and recreational activities. You will be the bridge that helps our consumers stay social and connected.
- On the Move: Provide transportation to and from community events and medical appointments. This includes being the designated captain of our converted minivan, ensuring our consumers get where they need to go safely and in style!
- Daily Living Assistance: Provide hands-on support with personal care, including bathing, toileting, and grooming, ensuring our consumers feel their best every day.
- Home & Nutrition: Assist with meal planning and cooking (bringing your own energy and creativity to the kitchen!) and keep the home environment clean and welcoming through light housekeeping and laundry.
- Mobility Support: Help individuals get in and out of bed and navigate their home and community safely.
- Documentation: Maintain detailed and accurate daily communication and tracking logs. You will follow the Individual Service Plan (ISP) to ensure all health, safety, and goal-oriented requirements are met.
What We Are Looking For
- Energy & Personality: You are naturally outgoing, energetic, and love to communicate with consumers, families, and team members.
- Confident Driver: You are comfortable behind the wheel and feel at ease operating a converted minivan to help our consumers access the world around them.
- Physical Strength: Ability to lift at least 50 pounds comfortably and perform physical tasks throughout your shift.
- Comfort with Personal Care: You are comfortable and professional when assisting with private needs such as bathing and toileting.
- Lift Experience: Previous experience with a sit-to-stand lift is a major plus, but we are happy to train the right person!
- Reliability: You are a dependable professional who understands that our consumers rely on you for their daily quality of life.
Requirements
- Must be at least 18 years of age.
- High School Diploma or GED.
- Valid Ohio driver’s license with a clean driving record and reliable transportation.
- Proof of automobile insurance.
- Must be able to pass BCI & FBI background checks.
- CPR/First-Aid (or willingness to obtain them prior to working).
